Whole Home Renovation – Transforming a Multi-Level Home Into a Bright, Open-Concept Space

Kayla and Doug had a clear vision for transforming their existing multi-level home. They wanted to open up walls, reconfigure the layout, and complete a full whole home renovation that better suited their lifestyle. With architectural plans and design guidance from Elyse McCurdy Home Designs, the Mitchell Contracting team got to work bringing that vision to life.

Opening Up the Floor Plan & Reimagining the Space

One of the biggest goals for this renovation was creating a more open and connected main floor. The project included:

Removing walls between the kitchen and dining room to improve flow

Installing new flooring throughout

Adding modern trim work

Completely updating the kitchen with custom cabinetry

Improving functionality across all levels of the home

These upgrades not only enhanced the home’s layout but also created a modern, cohesive aesthetic.

From Demo to Rebuild: A Complete Home Transformation

Once the main floor was demoed and reframed, our team began updating the essential systems, including plumbing and electrical. With the structure prepared, we moved forward with:

Drywall installation

New flooring

Trim & finish carpentry

Custom kitchen installation

Beautiful Finishes That Tie the Home Together

Light flooring, off-white cabinetry, and elegant gold accents gave the home a bright, timeless, and elevated look. These design choices helped unify the entire renovation, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from room to room.

A Completely Transformed Home

When the renovation was complete, Kayla and Doug moved back into a home that felt entirely new. The improved layout, updated finishes, and open-concept flow brought modern functionality and beautiful design to every corner.

The Mitchell Contracting team worked hand-in-hand with the homeowners, subcontractors, and designer to ensure every detail met the highest standard of craftsmanship.

We first met Brendan Mitchell when we went out to tender a total home remodel of our cherished 200 year old home in Old Town Niagara on the Lake...Brendan stood out from the other contractors almost immediately. When we met he took the time to inspect the house in depth and address any questions we had. Brendan’s interest and attention to detail was notable. We could tell he was sincere and had a real passion for his profession...Brendan was incredible to work with...We worked with Brendan and his team everyday over a 10 month period and never had any negative issues which is really saying something given the complexity of our project. He is a super talent. We highly recommend Mitchell Contracting.

They transformed our basement into a beautiful, functional living space that exceeded our expectations. The egress window installation was seamless. Mitchell Contracting ensured everything was up to code and provided thoughtful recommendations throughout the project. From start to finish, communication was excellent. We highly recommend Mitchell Contracting for anyone looking for high-quality work and a stress-free renovation experience. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!

We hired Mitchell Contracting for an addition to our home, and to renovate an existing bathroom. Brendan was fantastic from start to finish. We had to change plans and he walked us through everything thoroughly and took care of all the city permitting (which was a huge bonus!). His quote and timelines were accurate and detailed. A big renovation can be stressful and his team did everything they could to make it as easy as possible for us. Once construction began his team was always professional, detail oriented, and left the workspace immaculate. Brendan and his team were able to turn our starter home into our forever home and we are so grateful and lucky! We will absolutely use them for any future renovations, and I highly recommend his services.

In March of 2020, we had a 1600 sq ft high, dry, and empty basement that we wanted transformed into a family gathering space, complete with kitchen, bath, and 2 bedrooms. Brendan started out with a blank page, and since we already had our design plan, he literally brought our plans to life! From the flooring to the tile to the custom cabinetry, to the specific drywall finishes we wanted.... the Mitchell Contracting team exceeded our expectations, which is pretty difficult, as we are particular.. The team was on time, clean, and communicate very well through each step. We highly recommend Mitchell Contracting to everyone we know. You will not be disappointed.

I hired Mitchell Contracting to renovate my bathroom, replace all of my windows and back door and I could not be happier with the results! Brendan is not only genuinely kind but is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of his work. He was very quick with all communication and was happy to make any adjustments so that everything was just as I imagined. Ryan and Dale did the bulk of the work on my bathroom - their attention to detail speaks for itself when you look at the tile work they completed. I would recommend Brendan and his team without hesitation, thank you for everything!

We recently had a 450 sq. ft. home addition completed by Mitchell Contracting and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The craftsmanship was exceptional — every detail was done with precision and care. The team kept the workspace remarkably clean throughout the entire project, which made a big difference for us since we lived here during the construction phase. Their communication was better than we ever expected — we were always kept in the loop and any questions we had were answered quickly and clearly. On top of all that, the pricing was very fair for the quality of work we received. Mitchell Contracting delivered a seamless, professional experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
