Main Floor Renovation Featuring Load-Bearing Wall Removal – A Complete Transformation

Patrick and Alicia reached out to Mitchell Contracting to update and modernize their entire main floor. Their project required significant structural changes, including the removal of a load-bearing wall, installation of a support beam, and the addition of a brand-new powder room. With permits approved and design plans in place, demo day began — and the transformation quickly took shape.

Opening Up the Main Floor With Structural Wall Removal

Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room completely redefined the layout of the home. This structural change created:

A more open-concept and spacious main floor

Improved natural light and sightlines

A modern, functional layout ideal for everyday living and entertaining

Rebuilding the Space With Quality Craftsmanship

Once the new structural beam was securely installed, our team moved into the rebuild phase. This included:

Plumbing and electrical rough-ins

Drywall installation

New flooring throughout

Custom cabinetry and millwork

We worked closely with Chase from Chase Cabinetry to install the new kitchen cabinetry and custom mudroom built-ins, creating a cohesive and beautifully finished main floor.

The combination of light floors, white cabinetry, and black accents gave the space a fresh, modern, and timeless aesthetic.

When the renovation was complete, Patrick and Alicia returned to a home that felt entirely new. The open-concept layout, updated finishes, and improved functionality created a bright, welcoming space tailored to their family’s lifestyle.
