Niagara Falls Main Floor Renovation

Kitchen Renovation & Main Floor Laundry/Mudroom Addition – A Functional Upgrade for Modern Living

Kim and Chris reached out to Mitchell Contracting to update their kitchen and create a more functional main floor with a new laundry room and mudroom addition. Their existing layout lacked storage and everyday convenience, so our team reimagined the space to better suit their lifestyle.

This project involved a mix of strategic redesign, structural changes, and high-quality craftsmanship—resulting in a main floor that feels brighter, more open, and significantly more functional.

Expanding the Home With a Laundry & Mudroom Addition

To create space for the new laundry and mudroom, we borrowed square footage from the existing garage, opening up the main floor in a way that improved both flow and practicality.

Once permits were approved, demo day began and the transformation was underway. We installed helical piles to support the laundry/mudroom addition—an essential step for long-term structural stability.

Kitchen Renovation & Main Floor Remodeling

With the space framed, our team began updating the essential systems:

Plumbing rough-ins

Electrical upgrades (completed with Rick from Young Electric)

Drywall installation

New flooring throughout

Custom trim and millwork

We partnered with Chase from Chase Cabinetry to install the new kitchen cabinets and custom mudroom built-ins, ensuring a cohesive and beautifully finished main floor.

The design choices—light floors, white cabinetry, and gold accents—brought a bright, timeless, and elevated aesthetic to the entire renovation.

A Transformed Main Floor Designed for Everyday Life

Once the project was complete, Kim and Chris moved back into a home that felt entirely new. The added functionality of the main floor laundry and mudroom, paired with a beautifully renovated kitchen, created a space that is both stylish and highly practical for daily living.

Mitchell Contracting worked closely with the homeowners, designers, and subcontractors to deliver a renovation built with precision, quality, and care.

We first met Brendan Mitchell when we went out to tender a total home remodel of our cherished 200 year old home in Old Town Niagara on the Lake...Brendan stood out from the other contractors almost immediately. When we met he took the time to inspect the house in depth and address any questions we had. Brendan’s interest and attention to detail was notable. We could tell he was sincere and had a real passion for his profession...Brendan was incredible to work with...We worked with Brendan and his team everyday over a 10 month period and never had any negative issues which is really saying something given the complexity of our project. He is a super talent. We highly recommend Mitchell Contracting.

We hired Mitchell Contracting for an addition to our home, and to renovate an existing bathroom. Brendan was fantastic from start to finish. We had to change plans and he walked us through everything thoroughly and took care of all the city permitting (which was a huge bonus!). His quote and timelines were accurate and detailed. A big renovation can be stressful and his team did everything they could to make it as easy as possible for us. Once construction began his team was always professional, detail oriented, and left the workspace immaculate. Brendan and his team were able to turn our starter home into our forever home and we are so grateful and lucky! We will absolutely use them for any future renovations, and I highly recommend his services.

In March of 2020, we had a 1600 sq ft high, dry, and empty basement that we wanted transformed into a family gathering space, complete with kitchen, bath, and 2 bedrooms. Brendan started out with a blank page, and since we already had our design plan, he literally brought our plans to life! From the flooring to the tile to the custom cabinetry, to the specific drywall finishes we wanted.... the Mitchell Contracting team exceeded our expectations, which is pretty difficult, as we are particular.. The team was on time, clean, and communicate very well through each step. We highly recommend Mitchell Contracting to everyone we know. You will not be disappointed.

I hired Mitchell Contracting to renovate my bathroom, replace all of my windows and back door and I could not be happier with the results! Brendan is not only genuinely kind but is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of his work. He was very quick with all communication and was happy to make any adjustments so that everything was just as I imagined. Ryan and Dale did the bulk of the work on my bathroom - their attention to detail speaks for itself when you look at the tile work they completed. I would recommend Brendan and his team without hesitation, thank you for everything!

We recently had a 450 sq. ft. home addition completed by Mitchell Contracting and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The craftsmanship was exceptional — every detail was done with precision and care. The team kept the workspace remarkably clean throughout the entire project, which made a big difference for us since we lived here during the construction phase. Their communication was better than we ever expected — we were always kept in the loop and any questions we had were answered quickly and clearly. On top of all that, the pricing was very fair for the quality of work we received. Mitchell Contracting delivered a seamless, professional experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
