St. Catharines Main Floor Remodel

From Closed Off to Open & Functional

St. Catharines Main Floor Remodel

This St. Catharines main floor renovation was all about creating a brighter, more functional home designed to serve our clients well for years to come. Working alongside Jen from Invision Design, we reimagined the existing layout to improve flow, accessibility and everyday function while bringing a light, coastal-inspired feel throughout the home.

The transformation included a complete kitchen renovation, where walls were reconfigured to create a more open connection between the kitchen and living spaces. A large island became the centre of the new layout, while custom cabinetry, quartz countertops and backsplash, integrated lighting and refinished hardwood floors brought the space together. During construction, we were also able to replace the originally planned drop beam with a flush structural beam, creating cleaner sight lines and a more cohesive open-concept main floor.

A major focus of this remodel was aging in place. An existing bedroom was converted into a convenient main-floor laundry room, the hallway was widened, and the bathroom was expanded to provide more comfortable access. The new bathroom features a nearly curbless shower, double vanity and carefully planned transitions, creating a space that feels elevated and intentional while also considering long-term accessibility.

The renovation continued into the primary suite, where custom built-ins combine a fireplace, television, storage and makeup vanity into one focal wall. We also incorporated a walk-in closet, refreshed the entryway with tile and wall panelling, and refinished and patched the home’s existing hardwood wherever possible. Consistent flooring transitions, millwork and thoughtful details throughout help the new spaces feel connected to the character of the existing home.

This project is a great example of how a whole main floor remodel can do more than update the look of a home. By reconsidering the layout, addressing accessibility and making thoughtful use of the space already available, we created a home that is more functional today and better suited to our clients’ future needs.
